You will need to follow appropriate social distancing rules.
We primarily have private guest rooms and not shared rooms.
Non essential communal areas may not be available during your stay.
Scheduled cooking and dining times will be assigned to minimise the number of people shared areas.
You will be assigned your own dishes and cutlery and utensils if required.
Extra cleaning and hand sanitisation products are provided. You agree to use them!
Some areas of the property will be temporarily closed to allow for an increased cleaning schedule.
We continue to monitor developments and updates from the Ministry of Health and New Zealand Government.
Cancellations (see below for groups or longer stays):
Should your plans change or you are unable to keep your booking, we require a minimum of 48 hours notice, prior to your arrival date to receive a refund. If you cancel after this time, the first nights stay is not refundable. (If you have booked with Booking,com another online travel agent, you will need to cancel up to 5 days prior to arrival to receive a refund. Please check with them for their terms of booking).
You can change the date of your booking up to 48 hours prior to your arrival date for no charge (subject to availability).
You will have to notify us by phone or email and it will need to be confirmed by us.
Please note: Tekapo is situated in a mountainous alpine environment accessed via roads that run through alpine passes. We do not accept responsibility for disruption to travel plans due to weather, road closures, etc. You may wish to look into travel insurance cover for this if it is of concern.
(For bookings made on or before the 31st March 2020 for any future date and pre-payment was made, a 10% cancellation fee applies, as per the terms of booking that applied at this time.)
The full amount of your reservation will be charge to the credit card used at the time of booking, 1 day prior to arrival.
A pre-approval may be processed against the credit card used to secure your booking. If the pre-approval is unsuccessful, your booking may be cancelled, at our discretion.
Groups and longer stays:
For bookings of groups of 6 people and more, or bookings of 6 consecutive nights or more, a minimum 25% deposit is required at the time of booking which is fully refundable up to 2 months prior to the date of arrival. If cancelled within 2 months prior to the date of arrival, it is non-refundable.
The balance must be paid 7 days prior to arrival. Should your plans change and you are unable to keep your booking, we require a minimum of 7 days notice prior to your arrival date to receive a refund (less 25% deposit).
Food, Drink and Smoking:
All rooms and shared facilities are non-smoking (including vaping and electric cigarettes), including bedrooms, bathrooms and entranceways. The cost to clean or repair any smell, stain or damage caused from smoking, pungent food or drink will be charged associated cost of commercial cleaners and/or tradesperson. If you notice any of these issues when you arrive, you will need to advise reception immediately.
Families and children:
Please note, while children are welcome to stay, you must be 18 or older to stay in a shared or dorm room.
Families with children are welcome to use the dorm or shared room only when booking out the entire room.
Pets are allowed strictly by prior arrangement only. Pets must be on a lead at all times while on the property and under control.
We do reserve the right to cancel your reservation if, in our opinion, there is any issue with the pet staying.
If you do not arrive to check in for your reservation before the reception closes and have not made arrangements with management to arrive later, then your booking, in its entirety, may be cancelled. The first 2 nights booked are not refundable, if they have not been paid in advance, then the credit or debit card use to make the booking will be charged. Any other nights of the booking will be refunded as per the Cancellation terms above.
-Valid photo ID will need to be presented at check-in.
-If you are paying by credit card on arrival, the credit card must be present.
-If you are paying by credit card on arrival, there is 2% fee to recover some of the cost charged by the credit card company.
-Any noise or behaviour that affects any others guests stay in a negative way (as deemed by hostel staff) is not allowed and we reserve the right to cancel any reservation at any time. There is a general quiet time after 10:30pm.
-Visitors who do not have a reservation must register at reception (including visitors of guests with a reservation). Any visitors using the facilities (beds, kitchen, lounge, gardens etc) will be charged $20 per hour unless pre-arranged with management.
-Check out time is 10am. If you occupy the room after 10am, there is a charge of $20 per hour or each part hour. If you require a bit longer in the room, please arrange it with management the night before check out.
-Parking on site is provided free of charge and is available on a first come, first serve basis.
-While every effort will be made to provide the type/style of room/venue as booked, we do retains the right, if circumstances require it, to substitute the room or location booked with an alternative room or location, as similar as possible to that which was booked. Should you choose not to accept to alternative room or location, you may cancel your booking without penalty or charge.
-Wifi is available on site, with VDSL speeds. It is available subject to there being no line, power or network issues.
-If you find anything not working, broken or not up to our standards, you will let the reception staff know as soon as possible. If there is anything damaged or broken in your room, you will let the reception know as soon as you have checked in, otherwise you may be liable for the cost of repair.
-You will not dry items of clothing or fabric in your room and will not place any items on, or within, 2 metres of any heater. A drying room and tumble dryer are available to use. Items found on or near heaters will removed by staff.
-If your room key(s) is not returned at checkout, you will be charged $15 to have a new key made.
-Any equipment that is borrowed or hired from reception (hair dryer, tripod etc) must be returned and be in the same condition as when taken. You will be required to cover the cost of any damaged or lost items.
You are deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions (and amendments published here and at the hostel reception) by making a booking or entering onto the property.
